Dangers in Paranormal Dating

I read a cool blog post last week talking about why it might not be so fun being married to a vampire.  Got me to thinking there are some significant downsides to dating any supernatural being.

Angels:

  • If you can fit a million of them on a head of a pin, their important parts are probably not sufficient to get the job done.
  • Impassibility.  I mean, no emotions is going take a toll on any relationship.
  • Omniscient means you can never lie to them about “Oh that dress?  I’ve had that for years.” Continue reading

Meanings and Predictions of Interest in Submission Fantasy

Earlier this week I discussed a study on how attraction to submission fantasy related to gender, and power/ status.  You can read that blog post here.

I’m referencing a 2009 study from the Psychology department of the University of Kansas that examined the topic, regardless of gender, and tied it to resource control – i.e. social power, wealth gaining ability, influence and assertiveness.  Patricia H. Hawley & William A. Hensley IV (2009): Social Dominance and Forceful Submission Fantasies: Feminine Pathology or Power?, Journal of Sex Research, 46:6, 568-585    It’s available for purchase right off the internet from Taylor & Francis. Sexual Submission – A Woman’s Thing?

With the popularity of THAT NOVEL, which I refuse to name so I won’t be accused of trying to ride on the coattails of fame, there has been a renewed interest in sexual submission and forceful submission fantasies. This isn’t something new.  Psychological studies, popular buzz, talk show hosts, all have at one time or another latched onto the topic.  I remember even back in the 70’s a study on women’s fantasies of submission in sex.  As always, studies deal in generalizations and are limited by the nature of the variables, controls etc.  You own personal mileage may vary.

Erotica Book Review – May (part 1)

I’ve got three good bits-o-fun to review this week, each with very different styles.  Erotic fiction time!

The XXX Files Episode 1 – Lexi Maxxwell

This book is as brash and crude as a Bumpit blond with a bottle of Jack Daniels in one hand and an unfiltered Camel in the other.  And by that I mean it is a whole lotta fun.  The XXX Files is a parody in the style of X-files filled with wink-wink, nudge-nudge graphic humor. Continue reading

The Marriage Bargain

The Marriage Bargain by Jennifer Probst

Alexa needs love and money, and not necessarily in that order.   Her parents are about to lose her childhood home, overwhelmed by debts from her father’s medical expenses, with a younger brother in college, and two teenage sisters still at home.  Alexa has sunk every penny into her bookstore, which is just edging into the black.    She doesn’t have a dime to spare to help her family, so she half jokingly performs a love spell that will supposedly bring her the man of her dreams to her door, complete with one hundred fifty thousand dollars.  Instead of a man at her door, she finds her best friend Maggie.

Maggie’s brother Nick needs to marry in one week in order to inherit the architectural company he has put his soul into.  All his dreams, everything he has ever cared about, hinges on owning Dreamscape.  He just needs to be married for a year to someone he can trust, who won’t disrupt the calm life he’s worked so hard to build.  Continue reading
